Back in Nice
I was really interested to see how Nice had changed since I lived there for a month in 2003 as part of my exchange program with Grand Valley. They're building a tramway so the city is completely torn up all through where I used to spend my days. I realized I was lucky to have lived so centrally because the city continues on far to the West and I was right by the train station and the main road Jean Medecin which leads to the beach. Heather and I dropped our bags off in the hotel where she and her mom would be staying that night and then headed through the old part of the city and to the boardwalk. I forgot how much I love the colors of Nice and how beautiful the color of the Mediterranean is. Even the stores have changed since I lived there though. Monoprix has been completely remodeled and Heather and I ended up spending way more than we meant to on a picnic lunch by buying containers of pre-made food. And alot of the stores on Jean Medecin are now chains like H&M and Zara. There's even a Flunch added on to the train station. I love travelling with Heather because we have the same taste and after our picnic next to the fountains in the Place Massena we headed for delcious gelato before a bit of shopping and picking her mom up at the train station. Then I headed off on my couchette train to Tours where I would be meeting my friend Terion from the States.
