C'est la vie ici

I wonder if I will ever completely succumb to the fact that I am really living here, that this is my life every day. It has only been two weeks so I don't know yet. I am starting to get into a routine with having started teaching yesterday. But when I have an adventurous weekend like this past one I don't think I could have ever imagined even on the way to the potatoe picking farm what I was getting myself into. That's right all in one weekend I climbed inside a statue that is over 700 meters above sea level, I pushed a broken down car, I used a pitchfork to dig up potatoes, I got wasted off of wine, and I had a picnic next to a river. And that's just part of it. But its not just the adventure of each day that makes my life here amazing, it is the wonderful people I have already met. Things haev turned out exactly how I hoped they would. Being forced to speak French where I live because I live with a Brityish, German, Italian, and Mexican girl. Going on weekend trips to beautiful new towns. Eating quiche, pastries, baguettes, cheese, and other good French food...and for cheap at the cafeteria. Seeing how diverse people are around the world but how we all have the same wants, needs, and loves. If I can I will post pictures on here, if not I will try to post them on Facebook, but none of them truly show the beauty of the hills and cliffs or the little everyday things that make me smile, such as the man with the sausage poking out of his bag or the girl hiding behind her mom in her frog rain boots. I still have so much French to learn, which was apparent as I watched "24 heures de la tele" on Sunday, but its only been two weeks so I have lots of time to improve, and I am extremely glad I did this program now.
